Yesterday, I kept thinking there was something wrong with the left audio monitor on my desk as it was quieter than the right one. I started playing with knobs, wiggling wires, trying to determine the cause. Then, I threw on some headphones and noticed the same problem. You’d think I’d be a little quicker at being able to figure out that my left ear is slightly plugged! I’m really hoping it’s not the first sign of an oncoming cold as it wasn’t too long ago that I said goodbye to my last one.
I’ve noticed first hand that the joys of having kids far outweigh the costs. Maybe it helps that my wife is the one who does the bulk of the baby care around here — I just don’t notice the costs as much.
But by far, the thing I’ve noticed that directly impacts my life and work the most is the additional germs. You know the drill… Baby goes and plays with other babies whos mothers are either not aware, being rebelous or in denile about their child being sick. Germs will be germs and before the day is out, baby comes home and brings all the fun to her daddy.
It sounds less serious than it is, I suppose. But everytime I get a cold, work gets a whole lot more difficult and my chances of winning new jobs from the auditions I submit drastically goes down, that is unless the potential client happens to be going for that nasily Don LaFontaine sound. And with Breana now in our picture, I seem to be getting sick alot more often than I used to.
I think it’s time to pound the drums and inspire the immune system to do a little better job in the future. More fruits, veggies and a multi-vitamin taken religiously every morning should help do the trick. Anything else I’m forgetting?
